We had a great trip to IN for Christmas despite a rough beginning. Our drive up took 14.5 hours (about 6 hours longer than normal). We hit some bad weather around Lexington, KY and spent 4 hours parked on the Interstate in the dark- it was a little eerie when all the cars and truck started turning their lights off. Willa enjoyed the break and got out of the carseat and found that the inside of a car is a little like a baby jungle gym with lots of things to explore. So the Wilsons' were waiting up for us when we rolled in a 2:30.
We enjoyed Christmas Eve at Tamara and John's house, then Christmas morning with Dave and the kids in Greensburg, then Christmas evening in Brownsburg. Willa liked the presents ok, but the wrapping paper was great, amazing how quickly a baby can get the hang of unwapping presents. Of course she had her fist Christmas loot picture on the couch- nice haul!
After Christmas day things slowed down a bit. We spent some time in Brownsburg with Susan and Devin. The boys had an afternoon with their dad and Willa got some Grandma time (or maybe that was the other way around).
Before we headed to Greensburg we met up with 2 of Morgan's college friends, their wives, and kids. Little Abby and Noah were all over the place and Willa was jealous of their mobility.
Back in Greensburg we had a nice visit- highlights being a trip to Metamora and a rockin New Year's Eve. I also got to see Cami and Tina, although we missed Alysha due to illness. Our drive home was much better, we made it in only 8 hours- near record time.
It is hard to leave the place with such a concentration of our loved ones. Since I finished college I have never really wanted to live in IN- I figured that I'd been there 22 years and it was time to move on, but my perspective has changed some (mostly since May). Not the best job or housing market at the moment to make any changes, but I have a feeling down the road a change in location is in our future.
