what a week!

February 15-22 was a doosey of a week for our little family. There was a viscous cycle of congestion and coughing and no sleep. Throw crawling, teething, and pulling up and 3 grandparents into the mix- and wow.

So Willa had been inching, flopping, and scooting around for weeks. We thought she was on the verge of crawling at Christmas. So it shouldn't have come as too much of a shock when she just took off. It was bedtime on Monday and we had just finished nursing. I was trying to change her diaper and get her into pjs, but she was way to wiggly for the changing table. I had her on the floor and just got her diaper when I reached for her pjs. The next thing I knew she was on her way to the kitchen. Morgan grabbed the camera and Grandma B. coaxed her on. She went all the way across the kitchen and has hardly stopped since. The next night she woke me up about 3 am on her knees in the crib and then again at 5 standing up. Grandma B got to see Willa pulling herself up on every surface higher than she is- not all designed to support a baby. She seems fearless and has taken the falls with a minimum of drama. We're trying to laugh them off, but when head hit hardwood even mommy and daddy wince. So of Willa's milestones Grandma B. has been around for 3 pretty big ones... 1st roll over, 1st crawl, and 1st pull up. Lucky for me she was also around to take over when Willa's cold hit me.

When Grandma B left Nana and Grandpa came down for a quick visit. They were amazed by her accomplishments and got to feel the sharp little edge of her first tooth poking through. So now that company is gone we are tying to settle back down, but I think second tooth is just below the surface causing a little havoc.

We went to the library yesterday for the bouncing babies program, and I was very interested to see what Willa would be like now that she is independently mobile. Would she explore or stick close to me around the bigger kids. There are a few younger babies, but the majority are walkers. She was all over the place. Everyone sits in a big circle and Willa seemed to like to crawl about 10 feet into the circle and then sit up facing out so that she could get a good look at everyone. During the playtime at the end she was chasing balls, climbing obstacles, and best of all trying to pull up on toddlers- not many can support the weight of a 20 lb. baby.
