from thumbs to toes

Susan B was telling me about the baby of a teacher she knows. This baby is a thumb sucker (like Willa) and the daycare workers didn't want the baby sucking on her thumbs so to try to break her of the habit they put socks on her hands. I laughed at that idea as I noticed Willa sucking on her toes during a diaper change. Babies are quite resourceful. Her attention has moved from her hands to her feet- sometimes clothing and diapers keep her from being able to play with her feet, but when she can get them she loves them. Although it doesn't seem to bother her I would hate to wear wet socks.
She is getting so strong. All that tummy time has paid off. I don't imagine it will be too much longer before she is mobile in the forward direction. She is getting pretty good at scooting backwards on her stomach and pivoting, but she just can't quite figure out going straight forward. She loves to stand up. She needs help pulling up still, but once she is up and holding on to something she can support herself for quite a while.

She looks so sturdy and confident on her feet - perfectly cute!
